Well worn International TD-15C with ROPS and aftermarket Campbell cab placed over the ROPS structure, quite an unusual sight. The machine has the commonly fitted S-blade and someone has marked the carrier rollers with a white stripe to see if they turn while the machine is in operation! This interesting shot shows a 1955-vintage Model B Tournapull with a B Carryall being push loaded by one of LeTourneau’s specialist 436 horsepower “Twin-C” pusher tractors which were designed for just one thing – push loading scrapers fast. While a good idea, the design never really took off and very few were ever manufactured Shot Show, Back In Time, Big Time, Wild Weather, Dumpsters, Power Motors, Truck Cranes, Americas Cup, Haulage

The only model of an early Caterpillar 627 is this 1:50 offering by NZG Models of Germany. It is pretty basic as you can see, and has been reissued in different colours and logo styles since 1969, so examples are not too hard to find. Adding the extra details that are missing would be time well spent. Diecast Toy, Diecast Models, Caterpillar, Classic, Germany, Early, Colours

Caterpillar promotional photo showing just how easy it was to remove the rear engine and transmission as a power pack module. A Caterpillar 988 wheel loader does the lifting honours. What the photo doesn’t show is the hours spent undoing all the hydraulic lines, wires and nuts & bolts (most of which were probably seized!) Hydraulic, Power Pack, Nuts

A very early production Komatsu D455A photographed in Germany shows a tired undercarriage and worn sprockets. Undercarriage replacement on one of these machines was a major job (not to mention expense). The D455A’s successor, the D475A-2, utilized a modular design making repair/replacement far less time and labour consuming. Komatsu Excavator, Motor Grader, Hitachi, Modular Design

The ‘Giant Ripper’, Komatsu’s term for the lethal looking single shank ripper fitted to the rear of this D455A and subsequent (D475 and D575) ‘Super Dozers’. Late model TS-360s at work on a highway relocation job in the USA in the early 1960s. Fleet photos of TS-360s are not easy to come by (total machine production was only 1176 examples over 7 years) so this is a rare image despite its rather poor quality. The machines are painted in the Persian Orange colour scheme with white wheel hubs. Snazzy! Allis Chalmers Tractors, Orange Color Schemes, Rare Images, Fleet, Poor, Highway, Persian
