I have gone through many seasons of many girl tribes. ⠀⠀I have dug my heels in only to have my season change, as I had new babies or my kids grew older, and then once again, my tribe morphs into something new. ⠀⠀Sometimes better and sometimes just different. ⠀
Tip: Nothing works if your body isn't ready nothing will work.⠀ ⠀ That being said, here are some ways that have worked for others and a few worked for me personally!⠀ ⠀ 👉 Your provider may sweep your membranes. This can be done in the office, but most providers won't consider it until 39 weeks. ⠀ ⠀ 👉 Get moving. I circled target everyday for hours. It was too hot outside in Florida in August. ⠀ ⠀ 👉 Evening primrose oil is something you can try. It comes in oil
During labor, the cervix opens to make room for the baby’s head to descend into the vagina from the uterus. The cervix is the bottom part of the uterus (refer back to my balloon illustration post!) Cervical dilation is one concrete proof that you are in fact, in labor. Cervical dilation happens at a pretty predictable pace MOST OF THE TIME!⠀ In early labor, the cervix is essentially warming up for the big game. It's softening and shortening and getting ready to open!

My top tips for labor admission…. And yes it includes MOVEMENT. How was your hospital admission process done?
Don't you just wish there was an easier way to give birth? Like nobody has to do anything and the baby comes out of your uterus as an involuntary process? Actually, there is such a thing where you can be calm; no nurse has to tell you to “push”, and you give birth. It's called the fetus ejection reflex or the FER. In this article, let's take a closer look at what it is, why it's actually good for you when you're giving birth, and how you can experience it.
Are you pregnant and planning on getting an epidural for your birth? • Be prepared to labor for a while first • Use a peanut ball and keep moving in bed • You might shake a lot • Let your nurse know if you feel funny

How to Make a Cervical Exam Easier
📣 try this trick during cervical checks👇🏼 Providers and nurses do cervical checks using two fingers in the cervix to see how dilated the cervix is, and how thin it is (effacement). The station is determined by the baby’s presenting part, usually the head, in relation to the ischial spines. For consistent assessment, it is recommended to have the same person check the cervix each time possible. (follow the link for the full post!)

Giving Birth With An Empty Bladder
When in labor, it’s important to empty your bladder often, otherwise it can be a roadblock for baby to descend in the birth canal. This is because the bladder takes up valuable space near the uterus and v@gin@l canal, which is where baby needs to fit through. It’s recommended that you empty your bladder every 2-3 hours or so during labor, or whenever you are asked to do so by your provider.

Dancing in Labor
Something that I always used to do with my patients is dance with them, or have them dance with their partner while they were in labor. Dancing (or swaying while standing) is a natural and effective way to cope with labor pains and encourage progress in the delivery process. When a woman dances, the movements help the baby descend into the pelvis, which can help to reduce the duration of labor. Dancing can also increase the strength and frequency of contractions, making labor more efficient.
