These Are The Best Walking Tracks On Rangitoto Island
The TSS Earnslaw is a 108 year old steam ship, built the same year as the Titanic! It is the last remaining coal fired commercial passenger carrying steam ship in the southern hemisphere, located on Queenstown's Lake Wakatipu. It was launched in 1908, refurbished in 1984, has had a cameo in an Indiana Jones movie, and has ferried royals from the UK, Belgium and Thailand! Wherever you’re going, keep a look out for wildflowers along the side of the highway. During a recent trip, I was amazed at all the flowers lining the sides of the road and insisted that we stopped for a picture. I’m so glad we did.

After tackling Auckland’s Te Henga Walkway, it’s fair to say it’s now one of my favourite walks in the region. The track stretches from Bethells Beach to Muriwai and meanders along the coastal cliffs. Looking out across the Tasman Sea, the walkway has stunning lookout points as you see the wild waves crashing on black sand beaches, at the bottom of the cliffs and along the Western coastline. Two craters form Upper Tama Lake, creating a horseshoe shape & one crater forms Lower Tama Lake. The lakes are freshwater and oh, so clear. The blue and green hues of the lakes are absolutely stunning. We even got a few moments with absolutely no wind on the surface of the lake, it looked as smooth as glass!
