This is not a "vanished scene," but the appearance of the street is very different today than in 1980. The location is in Brighton Mall, one block west-southwest of Marine Parade, at Oram Avenue. The camera is facing west-southwest. If I remember correctly, the time of day was close to close to noon. The street lamps have been replaced, and the colorful sculpture at left has been removed. I believe this was taken on Riccarton Road, going by the traffic and shops, but I could be wrong. Plenty of typical street furniture here, like the KE30 Corolla, Mk3 Zephyr, Mini, Civic, Mk2 Escort etc, but what is the car in front of the Civic?
