Hand carved and engraved.

This guitar was lovingly restored by Wellington luthier Paddy Burgin many years ago. Very pretty, bird’s eye maple back and sides with an even grained spruce belly. Machine heads have been replaced with Gibson heads of the same period. Fitted with Martin retro 12s, the sound is very crisp, especially on the trebles. Just lovely!

Very strange but we got a slightly older D18 in the day after the zombie D18 was resurrected. This one is in much better condition. Neck reset and a split bridge saddle fitted, courtesy no doubt , by Simcha Delft.

Martin D18s circa 1970.

Arrived in shocking condition, the most abused guitar we’ve ever had. Head stock broken off but nailed back on with a six inch plate. Signs of many scratch plates , including a left hand one, all missing but for the glue. Beer glass ring on the belly. Every brace internally loose. Holes in the ribs. Needed, of course, a neck reset. All back together, battle scared but glorious!
