Writing a Mihi
Everything flows from the mountain, through the river. Then the people settle, so this is the order in which we say our mini. Below is the template we have used to write our mihi's.
Over the last week I've been attending a Maori Art taster course. During those 4 days we had to complete our NCEA booklet and also create a piece of Maori Art on some MDF board. The one above is mine, using the Koiri patterns and those three colors. Its approximately 80cm x 20cm.
Tiki are fertility symbols and still today my adaptations might be seen to represent the fertility of the ethnic mix here in Aotearoa and in deed the whole of humanity so here I mix one the World’s love of the Mexican Muerto styles for the dead....
