Writing a Mihi
Everything flows from the mountain, through the river. Then the people settle, so this is the order in which we say our mini. Below is the template we have used to write our mihi's.
Matariki Fact Recall
We have been learning about Matariki and the constellation. Matariki is a small cluster of stars and it is also known as Plieades. There are several hundred stars but only seven of them can be seen. Matariki is a traditional Maori New Year. Matariki is celebrated with education and sharing ideas. Matariki is a time for remembering people you've lost.

Maui and the sun
We have been reading the book Maui and the sun. It's about how Maui and his brothers work as a team to slow down the sun so that everyone can enjoy longer days. We talked about how we are a team as well and shared our ideas about how we all help in our classroom. Then we made our own sun and took photos of ourselves pulling the sun in. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed learning how to use the cameras. Take a look at our finished display.
