1877-1903. Waitemata County was established 1877. The first train to Henderson's Mill ran on 29 March 1880. Source: NZ Herald, 30 March 1880, Page 5. The name Henderson's Mill was shortened to HENDERSON on the railway station building in 1897. Henderson Kauri Gum Reserve was gazetted in 1898. Waari Hamlet was a Government leasehold subdivision which opened 1903.
