Pliant branch of Kauri  Agathis australis kauri   Araucariaceae  Stems and branches are very flexible and pliant and may be bent to form a loop. Maori artisans fashion these into rustic walking sticks, called tekoteko.

Toilets in the bush  When I was way back in the bush botanising and checking out where that creek came from, was really surprised to find a plot of toilets. They are surrounded by a fence of crayfish-Lobster-pots that keeps out roaming stock. I particularly like the green one which had a cistern also made of porcelain. I love living in Totara North......

When I was way back in the bush botanising and checking out where that creek came from, I thought I had wandered upon someones (old) Marijuana plot but was really surprised to find it was a plot of toilets. They are surrounded by a fence of crayfish-Lobster-pots that keeps out roaming stock. I particularly like the green one which had a cistern also made of porcelain. Campbells Bush Totara North I have been trying to take photos of the creek (Te Nukuwai) that runs through the property and never felt comfortable with the results as the photos were always looking flat and uninspiring. I was aware that ribbons flying can show the movement of wind in the air. What if I used ribbons to show the movement of water in a similar way. The Photo was taken late in the day and trial and error gave good blur with shutter open for 20 seconds. I used a polarising filter…
