Saddlebacks, Philesturnus carunculatus, are common on some of New Zealand's offshore islands and they are especially so on Tiritiri Matangi, where this guy was photographed. Noisy, too. This guy is proudly showing off the wattles that give it's family its name, and its specific name, as well as the back plumage that gives it its common name.
