Right in the heart of Auckland's C B D is this marina, home to thousands of beautiful boats. A popular name fo Auckland is "City of Sails", you can see why. From here the boats can empty out into a sparkling harbour and outer gulf where the Americas Cup is held.

There's sand ahead, that means we're getting close to the beach. I think I can hear the surf. Exciting days running over the boardwalk.

A lovely sight to see the two ponies ambling along the water's edge. I know they love the surf. Beauty and grace. Just south of here they hold annual horse races on the sand. Lots of residents turn up to see the excitement. As kids we used to play on this beach every summer. Mum said we were "As brown as berries.”

The few moments of sunset is such a beautiful time of day, especially when the tide is coming in. Creeping, silently, gradually covering the sand. I'm looking forward to seeing this image as a metal print, I know the colours will be brilliant.

There's a storm rolling in from the sea. I'm sure these majestic cliffs have been battered by many storms over the years. They look no worse for wear! Soon the winds will whip up some surf on the beach and the stones will be thrown this way and that. The birds already know where to go to find some shelter.

I am in awe at the way water can reflect its surrounding nature. How does it do that, so perfect, so dynamic. I have boldly added a mood filter of yellow to highlight the patches of blue sky. And the cliff faces look so strong and so safe. I think the tide is coming in again.

I guess this could be an image captured by a drone. It's actually pure imagination. I've been experimenting with the very popular semi-abstract style. I do like the "floating" feel when you look at it. Does it give you a sense of freedom?

Piha Beach is best known for its black sand and marvellous surf. Plonked right in the middle is a magnificent outcrop called Lion Rock. The place was made world famous by a very popular TV series called "Piha Rescue." This tourist mecca is only half an hour's drive from Auckland's CBD.

I've been having dreams of the sea encroaching into the desert. A scary thought which I've tried to capture with this montage image. Water has an amazing ability to find its way through to anything.

The colours at dusk are marvellous, they have a mood all of their own. And the seagulls are always curious just in case there's a late morsel or two. This image is a montage of several layers to achieve the final result.

The coastal rocks and boulders reveal the power of the sea in their jumbled placement. While the sand, quietly and gently settles where it can. The high cliffs are standing firm against the sea, while the gulls cruise by to keep an eye on things.

Another day is dawning, soon the boats will be leaving the small harbour. Yesterday they had some good hauls so today should be the same. The old boats are beginning to creak a bit these days, but they love what they do. They smell of course but you get used to that.
