Glen Mary, located in Sparta, Georgia, home of Major General Ethan Allen Hitchcock (May 18, 1798-August 5, 1870), advisor to Lincoln and "Pen of the Army," is the only surviving rural High Greek Revival "raised cottage" plantation house remaining in the United States which is situated on a portion of original cotton plantation lands.
Rosemount is a historic plantation house near Forkland, Alabama. The Greek Revival style house was built in stages between 1832 and the 1850s by the Glover family. The house has been called the "Grand Mansion of Alabama." The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 27, 1971.
Brookland Plantation is plantation located on Edisto Island, South Carolina along Shingle Creek. Brookland Plantation existed on Edisto Island at least by the late 1700s. During that period, Brookland Plantation was the home of Joseph & Martha Jenkins; their graves are located at Brookland Plantation. The house was perhaps built between 1800 & 1807, but some, such as architectural historian Samuel G. Stoney, claim that the house was likely built in the 1840s.
ELIJA MIMS HOUSE, 930 Lake Mitchell Road, Clanton, AL. The land was given to Mims by the government to be used for farming.
