Khaki-clad ‘fairy godmothers’ Alice Fairs and Mailee Stanbury have had a very important role this summer – they’re DOC fairy tern wardens tasked with protecting New Zealand’s most critically endangered bird during its breeding season.
Our #royalcam albatross chick was found to be fly-blown. Following treatment the chick dropped below its hatch weight and was placed in to intensive care. The chick has now put on weight and is being looked after in a foster nest. All going well it will be moved back to its own nest soon.
