THE WAIKATO ON A PLATE Recently on the menu in Emma’s Food Bag we had a deliciously simple meal that I really want to share with everyone: “Oozy cheesy beef rissoles with roast baby potatoes and sweet summer salad” (OK, I was feeling a little creative when I came up with that title). I’m not saying that this is the tastiest meal we have ever had on our menu, but it represents what we are about in a way… For a start, everything on the plate is grown or produced within the Waikato region!
HELLO FROM EMMA'S DESK Well, this is exciting! My first ever blog post for Emma’s Food Bag! As you may have guessed, I am Emma – a half Swede settled in the beautiful Waikato with my Kiwi hubby and baby number one on the way in April. I have been running EFB with my very clever husband Harland since 2013, which has been so much fun and such a learning curve! We’ve worked hard and watched our baby business take its first steps and started to grow
Families who eat together stay together Some of my strongest childhood memories are from the kitchen – the heart of the home – with my parents cooking and me and my sister "helping". I feel like this habit is rare in most busy families these days, people eat separately, quickly, or in front of the TV. In the last few years I have definitively noticed a move back towards family meal times though, and this pleases both the foodie and the nutritionist in me!
MEET OUR CHEF There's someone I would like you to meet. Chef Kristen has been an integral part of the Emma's Food Bag team since day one and we owe a huge amount of our culinary pleasures to this lovely lady!
