Michael Collins, was an Irish revolutionary leader, Minister for Finance & Teachta Dala (TD) for Cork South in the First Dail of 1919, Director of Intelligence for the IRA, & member of the Irish delegation during the Anglo-Irish Treaty negotiations. Subsequently, he was both Chairman of the Provisional Government & Commander-in-Chief of the National Army. Throughout this time, he was also President of the Irish Republican Army. Collins was shot & killed in August 1922.

On this day 1921 the Anglo Irish Treaty was Signed.    The Treaty between Great Britain and Ireland was signed in London and with it brought an end the Irish War of Independence, though tragically led to the Irish Civil War.
