Delano Park formal garden, Decatur, Alabama. The original park opened in 1887, and the formal garden area was dedicated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on January 21, 1933. The garden and stone structures were a result of funding by the Civil Works Administration (CWA) and Works Progress Administration (WPA). The 1930s renovations were led by the pioneering female architect Carolyn Cortner Smith.
