1915 Betty Nansen, the great Danish actress while she was in Hollywood, in her 'golden gown', the last one made by Paul Poiret before he went to the front to fight for France in WW1. The tunic is of cloth of gold stiffened with brocade and is so heavily embroidered with seed pearls and tiny diamonds that it weighs 32 pounds. The rest of the gown is old rose silk also hand embroidered.
