Marwari stallion by Manu Sharma. Marwari comes from Marwar region, India. It's supposed to be an old breed together with its probable ancestor Kathiawari. There are 4000 years old paintings with curved-eared horses. Once the Marwari was very priced animal in India and also British army used it as a cavalry mount. When Brits left India and cavalry was considered old-fashioned, lots of Marwaris were lost. Luckily some families continued breeding and the breed is now saved.

The Marwari or Malani is a rare breed of horse from the Marwar region of India. Known for its inward-turning ear tips, it comes in all equine colours, although pinto patterns tend to be the most popular. It is known for its hardiness, and is quite similar to the Kathiawari, another Indian breed. Many breed members exhibit a natural ambling gait.
