Palmer Island Light Station is a historic lighthouse in New Bedford Harbor in New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. The lighthouse was built in 1849 out of stone rubble. Abandoned New Bedford Orpheum Theater in Massachusetts.  Opened in 1912, closed in 1959.  Stunningly beautiful still.

Most whaleships had these painted on with black and white paint to discourage pirates - the thinking was that the pirates would mistake the ships for naval vessels.
