St Thomas The Apostle Church, stained glass window. On the island of Harty, which has since been united with the fellow island of Sheppey (in Kent), the tiny church apparently originated but was also brought into disrepair in Saxon times. It was rebuilt by the Normans and broadened through time. Though it was damaged in World War II, it appears intact and retains its pews, old window designs, etc. Photograph (May 23, 2007) by barryslemmings, Flickr.
