Ethelyn Mildred Taylor Chisum (1895-1983) was born in Dallas to William Henry and Virgie M. Collins Taylor. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and graduated from Prairie View State Normal and Industrial College in 1913 and taught in the public schools of Rock Creek, Smith County, Waxahachie, and Dallas between 1916-23.

Ethelyn Taylor Chisum was a renowned Dallas educator and school counselor. Along with her membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, she was also a member of the Priscilla Art Club, which was the oldest club for African American women in Dallas.
