Koko the gorilla. She is a gorilla that they taught to speak sign language. She asked her keeper for a kitten for her birthday one year. She got the kitten and named it All Ball. Koko treated Ball as her baby. Makes me cry!
For her birthday one year, she signed to her teacher that she wanted a kitten. Koko’s teacher wasn’t surprised, as Koko’s two favorite books were about cats. They adopted one from an abandoned litter and Koko showed it tender care and gentleness.
As Esquire reported, when Fred Rogers took a trip out to meet Koko for his show, not only did she immediately wrap her arms around him and embrace him, she did what she’d always seen him do onscreen: she proceeded to take his shoes off!
