The Thirty Nine Steps • John Buchan ——— About this man who is thoroughly bored with London. Then a murder is commited in his flat. As an obvious suspect for the police and an easy target for the killers, he goes on the run in his native Scotland where he will need all of his courage and ingenuity to stay one step ahead of his pursuers. Supposed to be really good, and BONUS for us "bookclubbers" (haha) the PBS adaptation has Rupert Penry-Jones in it!

Earlier this year I decided to read John Buchan's classic novel The Thirty-Nine Steps .

The Thirty-Nine Steps is a perennial favourite for movie adaptations, having been dramatised many times for film, television, radio and theatre. The most famous adaptation is Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 version. Hitchcock took the original conspiracy thriller and turned it into a romantic comedy-thriller.
