Winnie the Pooh & A.A. Milne & Christopher Robin. 3 of my oldest childhood friends, that I never met.

Milne was a British author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various children's poems. Milne was a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of Pooh overshadowed all his previous work.

Harry Colebourn and his bear 'Winnie' (Winnipeg) - the bear cub was orphaned and he brought Winnie back to England after the war. She was the inspiration for Winnie the Pooh when Milne visited the London Zoo.

Christopher Robin was a real little boy and Winnie the Pooh was a real stuffed bear. The UK’s National Portrait Gallery has many pictures of him as a young boy. Some of them include his father, A.A. Milne, the author of the Winnie the Pooh stories.

A scarce, original ink and watercolor drawing by Ernest H. Shepard of  Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet, the characters he brought to life in A.A. Milne's classic children's books, 1924-1928, has found its way to market. The drawing, signed and dated February 29, 1932, sold for $40,000.00 at the end of February 2012.
