Five species of Baboon are commonly recognized, although there is some disagreement about whether they are really full species or subspecies. They are Chacma baboon, found in southern Africa, Guinea baboon, found in the far western Africa, Hamadryas baboon, found in the Horn of Africa & southwestern Arabia, Olive baboon, found in the north-central African savannah & Yellow baboon, found in south-central Africa. Habitat loss is this species main threat.
