Instagram Now Has More Daily Active Users on Mobile Than Twitter [REPORT]
Acquired by Facebook for around 735 million US Dollars in August 2012, Instagram is one of the most popular social networking platforms. In fact, since August, the online photo-sharing platform has more daily active users on mobile than Twitter.
All of these platforms are also examples of digital convergent media, engaging active audiences who respond, react, like, and link on the web. Audience members are no longer merely consumers, but also producers too. "Creative audiences," in fact, are one of the major defining changes brought about by media convergence and convergence culture.
"In the broadcast media paradigm, there is a clear distinction between producer and audience. Certain people are doing the producing but other people are doing the receiving. But more and more we see new possibilities for production and reception, which make possible new kinds of collaboration an exchange, new kinds of engagement and creativity.
