What made the design of this staircase particularly tricky was the tight 700mm internal bend radius of the 12mm glass, which is as tight as the industry can achieve. Glasshape’s experience and manufacturing capabilities helped in other ways, too. Huge benefits were gained in economies of scale, by supplying 25 panels in just three different radii. This meant three set-up costs were spread across multiple panels, greatly reducing the cost per unit.
