Poi Tāniko — Te ngau a Tāne by Karl Rangikawhiti Leonard, Māori artist (KX100601)

Medium: muka (New Zealand flax fibre), tāwhero, paru (dyes). Size: 3 x 2.75 x 2.75 inches (excl. tassels and 15-inch cord). "Everything is done by hand from extraction to spinning to dying to weaving to designs. The fibre preparation is labour intensive, as all fibre is spun between the hand and bare leg.
