Now that it has reached it's destination, I give you sherbet coins (sorry....were you hoping for Daniel Craig?). My little chinese coin selvage mini made it all the way to remote Western Australia in just a couple of weeks! Helen wrote a very sweet blogpost about it. I'd say we both came away blessed by this little swap. The gorgeous quilt she sent me was very well received at my guild show'n tell last week - they loved Helen's swirly free-motion quilting and beautiful fabric choices. I have…
Selvage Pencil Case from France!
This beautiful selvage pencil case is the creation of my friend Christine in France. Isn't it amazing? You can read more about it on her friend Katell's blog: Quilteuse Forever. This will be on exhibit in Toulouse, France at the Creative Leisure Fair. I enlarged part of the photo below. I love those pencils! Nice job, Christine!
Meet Marquerite from the Netherlands
I love this quilt by Marquerite van Eijck, a friend of Joke van der Veen, both of the Netherlands. She is a very creative quilt artist, isn't she? She says she made this quilt after looking at my book, but she is just being nice. I never would have thought of this! Her quilt makes me want to do my happy dance! Wonderful job, Marquerite!!

"Come Quilt With Me" Tumbler Template
One of my favorite quilt show vendors is Pat Yamin of "Come Quilt With Me." (She is also a founding member of my guild, Empire Quilters in Manhattan, and an AQS author.) I made this quilt for Pat using her new tumbler template. The template is about 7 inches tall and if you ask, she'll include the pattern that I wrote for this quilt. Look for Pat at the AQS Quilt Show in Nashville this month. Her booth will be right across from the AQS booth. Stop and say hi. She will have this tumbler quilt…
Closeup--New Signature Selvage Star
My new avatar, a selvage Lemoyne Star on Kona Coal. Selvage colors go all the way through ROYGBIV and really pop against the deep gray background.
Pincushion from Linda, the Quilting Violinist
Linda from Florida, the Quilting Violinist, won the World Quilt (see sidebar post). She sent me a sweet thank you package that included this beautiful pincushion. This is the one that I use, although for this photo, I have it "staged" with decorative pins. Didn't she do a great job making this? Linda used CD's for the base. The level of squishiness is just right, medium-firm. She probably put some old violin strings in there. :) Linda attached the selvages with a zig-zag stitch. Here's a…

"Got scraps? An extra jelly roll? A fat quarter bundle just waiting to be used? A layer cake languishing in your sewing room? Look no further...this pattern is designed for pre-cuts or for stash busting. The striped blocks in this pattern use 1 1/4 inch x 10 inch strips of fabric. Perfect for those left over jelly roll strips or left over layer cake blocks you are not sure what to do with! This is a great pattern for beginning quilters because it provides lots of practice for making straight…
Reentering Reality Since Retreating
Three days and two nights of almost non-stop sewing, away from home, were invigorating and draining. It's invigorating to be with 12 quilters who have different tastes, and fun to see them utilizing different techniques for creating quilts. Draining because I stayed up too late, including until 2 a.m. Sunday morning, sewing! Here are some of our Hope Quilters, minus one quilter who could come only for one day. That's me, lower right. Would you believe, there are FOUR Linda's in this…
