Fantail or Piwakawaka, my absolute favourite native New Zealand bird. So many of these at Wilks. Love 'em.

Bill✔️ Wax-eye (Tauhou) having "an absolute ball" in a massive cluster of food-rich Kowhai flowers, a New Zealand early springtime scene. Winter can be quite hard for many birds, and for nectar-eaters, the Kowhai are the first food of the new summer season. Tui birds also wait and wait till Spring time, and will then fly up to 100kms to get the good food! (Image curation & caption: @BillGP). Bill Gibson-Patmore. Bill✔️
