Tukaroto Matutaera Potatau Te Wherowhero Tawhiao, the second Māori king, is clearly presented by Lindauer as a leading rangatira, with full-facial moko, huia feathers, pounamu ear ornament and a kahu kiwi (kiwi feather cloak).
