The Forced Suicide of Field Marshall Rommel, 1944
Interesting > "Death by Garrote" was the NAZI punishment for Treason. While Field Marshal Erwin Rommel wanted a Trial, in exchange for agreeing to a quick death by poison on October 14, 1944, Adolph Hitler would not tarnish his reputation nor retaliate against his wife and child. Interestingly, if Rommel had demanded a trial, he might have survived. Germany surrendered barely 6 months later, VE-Day, May 8, 1945
