"Moon Shine"- One evening I was driving home, the sun was low on the horizon, giving the hills a gentle pink glow and illuminating the full moon. As you can see, the sky was still blue, resulting in a wild beauty. Central Otago, near Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand. A New Zealand Yellow Eyed Penguin, it is the most rarest Penguin species in the world. They live on the mainland, climbing up rocks and steep hills and make nests in sheltered bush/forests. Very beautiful, with a yellow crest and bright golden eyes. The evening I took this photo, the little penguins were returning from the pacific ocean. This little fella paused while waiting for his mate to return out of the water. I watched all this beautiful scene from behind the wild flax bushes. Mj…

This was taken in the autumn in New Zealand. Parts of New Zealand have Wallabies, (which are smaller cousins of the kangaroo). This picture is of the mother and you can see the babies head hanging out of the pouch on her tummy. The other wallaby beside her is her previous baby who is nearly an adult.
