Coptic Binding, 7th or 8th century. Goatskin over papyrus boards; decorated with onlaid panels of red leather tracery sewn to a gilded leather ground, with plain edges. It is detached from the Coptic Illuminated manuscript of The Gospels which was done on vellum. Provenance: Monastery of Holy Mary Mother of God, Perkethoout near Hamuli, the Fayum, Egypt. (Purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan, 1911)

A copy of La Saincte Bible en Francoys, translated by Jacques Lefevre d’Etaples, vol.II. From Antwerp, made in 1533, specially bound for Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Crowned Tudor roses and ‘HA’ ciphers appear on the binding of both volumes with evangelical texts in French.
Portraits of Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603), with commentary
A gift from Elizabeth I to Queen Katharine Parr, Henry VIII's last wife. Elizabeth's embroidery of her translation of the French poem The Mirror of the Sinful Soul, 1544 It is bound in blue cloth and embroidered with silver thread. Katharine Parr's initials appear in the center of the cover.
