This one is mostly in neutral/realistic colours with a splash of brighter colours. All the backgrounds are similar with a blue blur and a few hashes.

This Kea was done on commission, the watercolour on this almost bleeds across the page. I have been working/developing this style for a while and look forward to seeing where it leads me. I am always in total owe by the beautiful colours that hide beheth the wings of the Kea.
Inked NZ Kingfisher - kiwiana
This was part of a series that was commissioned. Each of the New Zealand birds in this set is done in an inked 'tattoo' style. Various outline thickness has been used to create depth. I have done a few kingfishers in the past but it was nice to do one that was specifically Kiwi, the turquoise tones have a subtle elegance. All the backgrounds are similar with a blue blur and a few hashes.
