What Position Should You Use in Labour? When you picture a woman in labour, chances are the movie stereotype springs to mind. Reclined on a bed, straining forward from the upper body with legs askew and a tensed up face (probably yelling expletives at the man who got her in this position). Of course, she’ll quickly pop out a powder-fresh baby, usually of giant definitely-not-a-newborn proportions, all the while barely breaking a sweat, bar a gentle rosy flush of the cheeks.
Sometimes we all need to hear a positive birth story. 10 years ago today, I had not long given birth to our middle child! If you are longing to hear a positive birth story, then this one couldn’t get any better! A day very much like today, hot, sunny, and I was entirely over it at 40+ 3 days, she although I thought a HE had been due on the 9th. Contractions had started around 10am, and I was very relaxed and chilled. I think it was about 11am when I needed a coffee and a walk on the beach.
