The Koru, Maori symbol of creation

The Koru - Maori Symbol of Creation The koru (Māori for “loop”) is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace.

Urban Maori Art...LOVE!

In Maori (tribal language in New Zealand) this is called a koru.

Root of Life - The overall design of the painting resembles the Maori symbol, the Koru. The Koru represents the beginning of a new life and purity to the world. Once again, I decided to use lots of colours to show that the life ahead is an exciting journey. The beginning to the journey is narrow, where parents and help is constantly present to help prepare one for the tougher road ahead, represented by the wider end of the journey. [Aboriginal, Maori]
