How do you react when someone mentions the word “responsibility”? A lot of people associate a negative connotation to it, it sort of carries a burden with it. The word responsibility when broken down is made of two words, “response” and “ability.” The ability to choose a response. It is the ability to respond rather than react. “Given my ability, what will be my response.” There is choice involved. See it as a internal power rather than a external burden.
Are you telling yourself what you “should” do all day everyday? The word “should” has become a fixture in our everyday language. It’s very normal, we all do it. Okay, so you think, you should do this and you should do that, but what do you actually want to do? We have been taught what we “should” want, but no longer know what we actually want, and we often confuse the two. Did you even what to do it in the first place? Are you doing something just to please others or other’s standard?
Throughout history in various cultures, sages and philosophers all over the world have advocated that the key to happiness is living in the moment. But what does that really mean? The fact is there is only NOW - THE PRESENT MOMENT. Your memory of the past is a thought arising in the present, as is your expectation of the future. The only thing we truly have is this - MOMENT.
One simple exercise is to question your beliefs. > Is this belief true to you? > Is this belief still adding value to your life? > Do your beliefs actually make you a better person and push you to achieve in your life, or do they limit you and hold you back?
