RBL 12 pounder 8 cwt.  The Armstrong Rifled Breech Loader 12lbr was the primary artillery piece of the British Army from 1859-1871. The first standard issue breech-loader, it was faster and more accurate than previous models.  However, the Armstrong gained a reputation for being unreliable, and in 1871 was replaced by simpler muzzle loading pieces. The Armstrong was used in the Second Opium War and the New Zealand Land Wars.
