This photo is of a Tui. A native bird of New Zealand. It is also referred to as a "Parson bird" because of the feather tuft under its neck. It has iridescent plumage and is attracted to the yellow flowers and nectar of the Kowhai tree which is also native to New Zealand. We have a Kowhai tree growing close to our house which allows us to enjoy the activity of numerous Tui from our living room window. We live in Karori in Wellington and are a few kilometres from the Zealandia wildlife…
