Giuseppa Iolanda Menichelli (10/1/1890-19/8/1984), known as Pina Menichelli, was an Italian actress and silent film star. After a career in theatre and a series of small film roles, Menichelli was launched as a film star when Giovanni Pastrone gave her the lead role in 'Il Fuoco', 1915.

David Llewelyn Wark "D. W." Griffith (1875–1948) was born in Crestwood, Kentucky. He was a Hollywood film director, & one of the founding fathers of United Artists. He is known for his groundbreaking films The Birth of a Nation (1915) & Intolerance (1916). Griffith seems to have been the first to understand how certain film techniques could be used to create an expressive language. He died alone & broke at the Hollywood Knickerbocker Hotel. He is buried in Centerfield, Kentucky
