The moon will moon us on Earth! On Saturday, the moon will be up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the other full moons of 2012 because it will reach its closest point to Earth in its orbit and become full just a minute later.
Its brightest stars are Beta (Rigel -- leg to our right) and Alpha (Betelgeuse -- shoulder to the left), a blue-white and a red supergiant respectively. This image is helpful to see just how reddish Betelgeuse is.
