A little while ago I came across a class over at Creative Bug that really inspired me to get back into playing in my sketchbook! I was looking for a fun art project that my daughter and I could work on together and discovered Lisa Congdon’s wonderful Sketchbook Explorations courses. They have really inspired both of us to start playing in our sketchbooks, in fact my daughter has nearly filled hers with doodles, patterns and drawings over the past month!

Journal drawings in moleskine

I just realized that Grandma Marilyn had her own version of a junk journal/ art journal/ smashbook, decades before they became a trend! She had little notebooks similar to this, in which she doodled and glued magazine clippings with artsy stuff.

I love this because this is what my journal looks like!!! I can relate...I keep one next to bed and when the world gets too dark for me at times, sketching these zendoodles as I call them, brings back the light. :)
