Native Plant - I suppose it's a good thing that I like wild flowers because most of the natives tend to be prairie wildflowers, direct sun and able to withstand drought. This flower (Oxeye Heliopsis helianthoides) is more appealing to me than are most heliopsis; its less "bunchy" and seems to grow in smaller (and taller) clusters.
Nasturtium easy to seed Nasturtium seeds have a tough coat. Soak the seeds in water for 12 to 24 hours before sowing or file away or nick off a small piece of the seed coat before planting. they usually sprout in about a week.
All time fave flower! Botanical Name: Melampodium leucanthum Common Name: Blackfoot Daisy Love this low growing, sprawling plant, and it LOVES the heat and direct sun! I get it at Desert Gardens Nursery, sometime Baker's or Boyce Thompson.
