Summer Reading List

Winter Garden, Kristin Hannah "a powerful, heartbreaking novel that illuminates the intricate mother-daughter bond and explores the enduring links between the present and the past.

The Red Garden is a series of stories taking place in a town called Blackwell, Massachusetts. Each chapter was about a different person, starting with the person who settled there and started the town, and following down through the generations of her posterity to the present time. Each layer added upon the history of the town. I thought it was very well-written, although allowing only one chapter for each person's story made it hard to get attached to any one character.

The Red Garden by Alice Hoffman. Alice Hoffman has woven fictional and historical figures into a wonderful story set in Blackwell, Massachusetts- where a magical garden grows only red flowers.
