1935 - 1940. A view of the Mercatorplein in Amsterdam. The Mercatorplein borders the Hoofdweg at the junction with the Jan Evertsenstraat. The square was designed by H. P. Berlage in 1925 and built in the late 1920’s. Remarkable were the two gate buildings with towers on the north and south-side of the square. In 1998 and later in 2008 the square was extensively renovated. #amsterdam #1940 #Mercatorplein
Burgermeister at U Schlesisches Tor used to be an old bathroom under a bridge that was converted to a Burger Place. You get solid burgers and fries. The veggie tofu burger with mango-curry sauce is also great!
