The first toilets are installed on first-class carriages. Around 20 years later, toilets are introduced on all other classes, after apparently a letter to a local railway office in West Bengal from a passenger called Okhil Chandra Sen, who in 1909 complained about missing his train after having to go to the loo off the train.
