Wall Hangings and Designs - Gunta Stölzl

Gunta Stölzl - Wall hanging in double-weave technique, Silk 1964 cm City of Zurich

Caernafon tapestry in Biscuit, Teal & Orange. A great colourway from 1930s North Wales. Fully reversable with a different pattern each side. Machine sewn warp ends. Like all 1930s Caernafon tapestries it has a border design on all four sides of an interlocking chain design. This was removed on the warp ends in the 1950s to allow the mill to weave a continuous run of cloth without the need to change the pattern chain each time a blanket was finished. Pure wool with a high twist.
