St. John of the Cross one of thirty one Doctors of the church who learned of self-sacrificing love and gave up a wealthy life to find a world of beauty and happiness in God. Becoming a Carmelite he wrote in his famous poetry, "Now that I no longer desire it all, I have it all without desire" Of most famous books he is noted for "Dark Night of the Soul", which explains this and was emphasized by Mother Teresa.
