Vita Sackville-West, London, 1939. British writer and poet. The affair for which Sackville-West is most remembered was with the prominent writer Virginia Woolf in the late 1920s.  Woolf published one of her most famous novels, Orlando:  A Biography, in 1928.  It is a semi-biographical novel based in part on the life of Vita Sackville-West.  A film adaptation was released in 1992, starring Tilda Swinton as Orlando and Quentin Crisp as Queen Elizabeth I.
